The beautiful drawings in this Atlas are taken from:
"A Cross-Section Anatomy", published in 1911, the collaboration of
Albert C. Eycleshymer, Ph.D., M.D. and Daniel M. Schoemaker, M.D.,
Professors in the Anatomy Department
Medical School of St. Louis University
The publication is now in the public domain, and in this presentation the following modifications have been made: Firstly, names have been translated from Latin to English. Secondly, when this Atlas was published, the convention in Anatomical Science was to view cross-sectional images from head to toe, i.e. inferiorly. Nowadays, convention in the science of Radiology is to view CT and MRI images from toe to head, i.e. superiorly. Therefore, in this presentation, the images of the torso were electronically “flipped” in order to appear to be viewed according to modern convention, prepared by Shelia Chhutani, Frederick Lee, Judy Lee, Elizabeth Valois, and Julie Young, students of Dr. Margaret Cooper of the Anatomy Department of St. Louis University School of Medicine. Additional images, including those of the head, were translated and labeled by Dr. Timothy Dutra, who, before becoming a Medical Examiner for Clark County, Nevada, had completed a Forensic Pathology Fellowship of St. Louis University School of Medicine.
